The Catalist Analytics department is at the center of the data-driven effort to assist progressive political entities, civic groups, and advocacy organizations boost civic participation and run successful campaigns and programs. We build new statistical methods for solving unique problems associated with systematic missing data, latent variable detection, supervised modeling, and unsupervised modeling.
Catalist is looking for a Spring intern to join our Analytics team and assist with a wide range of projects in our DC office. As a Catalist Analytics Intern, you’ll be at the cutting edge of supporting the data utility in the center of data science in the progressive community. You’re someone with an analytical mindset, comfortable querying databases and using code to repeat and optimize processes, and a keen attention to detail.
You will work as part of the Catalist Analytics team to enable the success of our clients, collaborating with data-driven progressive groups in issue advocacy and electoral campaigns. You must be a team player who is comfortable with multiple perspectives toward problem-solving.
We seek individuals from a diversity of backgrounds with demonstrated quantitative skills and the ability to communicate clearly about quantitative data. We value creativity, strong effort, and innovation.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- College Junior or Senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in social science, computer science, statistics, or a related field or a recent graduate
- Motivated, responsible, self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and take initiative on long-term projects
- Proven ability to work on teams
- Complex problem solver
- Attention to detail
- Experience working with data and/or databases via SQL
- Background check required
Applicants should be able to commit to at least 20 hours per week. This is a paid internship.
